TeenyBR is our 6 week beginners course for kids that are interested in running and want to know more about it. We hold it in the summer holidays every year and expects that the kids have little to no experience in running or athletics. We’re not expecting the kids to out running 5ks by the end of the course but they will walk (or run) away with an understanding of the fundamental skills that underpin running. Our aim is to make it plenty of fun whilst still getting across serious learning topics. If your child is more seriously into running, perhaps is a regular junior parkrunner, then they might not find this course very useful and might get more benefit from joining TeamBR as a junior member.

There are more areas that surrounding running than the actual running itself, such as coaching, marshalling, competition and supporting your fellow runner. We try to give an experience of all of these aspects during course. After all, if running is not their thing, they might be inspired to follow a career path in coaching!

In running, competition is fierce, but so is the support of other runners, which gives the running community one of its most redeeming features. This is a mentality that is reinforced during the course.

All of our coaches are fully DBS checked and England Athletics trained. They have many years of experience and knowledge between them. The more physical side of the course will be teaching the children their fundamental movement skills and patterns with a basic explanation of why they are important.

These are skills which will not just help them with the running motion but going upwards into later life.

We will test them at the beginning and end of the course to see if anything we have taught has helped them and it will give them a reason to practice whilst they’re not with us! At the end of the course they will receive a special t-shirt and medal for completion!
